I recently tried the latest uniformserver, xamp and a few others. Each seemed to talk about some runtime garbage that was never previously an issue. I assumed apache had decided to get difficult..
Anyway thinking that apache was at fault i figured i'd stick with the current version i have in my uniformserver and just upgrade php. What a silly mistake:
So effectively they have killed php portability where it will not run on systems that do not have the above runtimes installed.
WELL THAT WAS CLEVER WASN'T IT!
Still can't make up my mind about apache.. their documentation is a labyrinth which covers multiple pages about windows compiling, tweaking, installing etc.
So PHP has taken the move to kill off portable wamp setups. Think i'll stick with 5.3 for local development then.. maybe upgrade to 5.4...
