XML expected behaviour

I've been asked to create xml to be sent over e-mail, to compile a PDF form at the receiver end. I did it by saving a .XML file and filling it using a c program. My question is, knowing that windows add CR LF at the end of each line, should I add a function in my program that removes the CRs or the CR removal is done by every program that can handle/process xml files automatically by the recipient?
