How Do I Make My Site 'Wider'

hey, not the best at explaining this because im not sure what it is i have to do hence the thread.
but i'll show u an image and hopefully ill get the help i came for :)

i want more of the actual content and less of the side spaces on my site (using youtube.com as an example)
